Two Years On From The Storms

Written by on June 9, 2023

From Yarra Ranges Council:

Today marks the second anniversary of the devastating 2021 storm that hit our community.

The impacts of the storm were widespread, with more than 200 properties damaged, more than 25,000 trees falling, and many residents left without power or internet for weeks.

To this day, the impacts continue to be felt by people who experienced damage to their homes, gardens, communities, environment, and wellbeing.

While some people do not wish to dwell on the event, others have expressed the need to gather and to reflect on their shared experiences.
Next Friday 16 June, 6pm-8pm at the Kallista Mechanics Hall, there will be an opportunity to meet with local residents and community groups to share stories and plan for future emergencies. This will also be the official launch of the Kallista Emergency Group.
