Seraya has returned to the past, in many ways, on this particularly powerful song: DREAM TIME STORIES.
This is a living, breathing creation and sees Seraya return to her days when she released Prodigal Daughter; recently she has experimented with different styles, but this is Seraya singing in the style she was always meant to.
Seraya has taken a step back to her ‘folk’ foundations and released a song about her Father. No, it is not one of sadness but one of adventures and journeys shared and remembered, written in a manner that can bring tears to one’s eyes. Gratefulness for that company and life stories proudly and lovingly sung about, and rightly so, stand well out to the fore in this composition.
To release a song full of personal thoughts, deeds, time together and with graciousness for things past is no easy task; but, Seraya has managed this and in such a moving manner.
The guitar playing, harmonies, drums, and bass guitar, combined with the singing, become one entity and what an entity it is. The lyrics are so alive with meaning and beautifully
written and performed.
I place this amongst Seraya’s best work to date and am so pleased to hear that return to ‘folk’.
