Details

Location: Burrinja, Upwey.

Venue: Burrinja Theatre.

Sarah Blasko is touring in celebration of her seventh solo album, Conquer This Mountain, which debuted at #6 on the ARIA Australian Album Chart and was crowned Double J Feature Album. It traces the inevitability of painful goodbyes in all their forms and the final acceptance that follows a period of grief and sees Sarah Blasko firmly in the present as she searches for the light that comes with new beginnings. In their glowing album review, MOJO named it “her defining album so far” with Rolling Stone Australia sharing that “from the top, she takes us to church, confesses, hollows us out, refills our cups” in their 4-star review.

Sarah Blasko writes songs that strike with rare immediacy, clarity and purpose. Melodies are beguilingly simple, lyrics ever honest and direct. Blasko has reached a rarefied status in Australia, from the now-classic debut The Overture & The Underscore (2004) through to the stunning Depth Of Field (2018); her six-album run of genre-defining indie-rock and art-pop is unparalleled. Over the course of her albums, she has received countless award nominations and has secured 3 ARIA awards and triple j’s Album Of The Year for ‘As Day Follows Night’.

Sarah was the subject of the ABC commissioned documentary BLASKO – which aired late in 2017 to critical acclaim, and has written music for film, television, theatre and ballet. She has performed with Symphony Orchestras, string quartets, electronic duos, and makes up one third of the beloved ‘Seeker Lover Keeper’ collaboration alongside Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby.

“Whenever I listen to Sarah Blasko’s albums I feel like I’m navigating a vast ocean, with hidden depths below and uncertain weather above, but on Eternal Return her songs bubble up like a clear, pure, mountain spring. It’s an invigorating tonic for the soul.” – Dave Faulkner

“Sublime vulnerability with a dark undercurrent” – The Guardian (5 Stars)

“Part Alison Goldfrapp, Part Kate Bush Art-Pop machine” – Mojo

“Dripping with atmosphere, I’m sticking a “best yet” flag into this one” – The Crack (UK)

“Art Pop Composer Blasko delivers her sixth album, building on her already dynamic reputation of haunting and deeply moving songcraft” – Electronic Sound Magazine (UK)
