Off the Map is a world music radio programme curated and presented by Melbourne-based musician and events producer Con Kalamaras. Airing on 3MDR, the show delves into rare and unique recordings from around the globe, with a particular emphasis on traditional and folk music. Kalamaras, known for his deep involvement in Rebetiko music—a genre often referred to as the Greek blues—uses the programme to explore and share diverse musical traditions, offering listeners a rich tapestry of global sounds. Beyond Off the Map, Con Kalamaras has been instrumental in promoting Rebetiko music in Australia. He co-founded the Melbourne Rebetiko Festival (2016–2019) and currently co-directs Greek Fringe, initiatives aimed at fostering appreciation for Greek musical heritage. His efforts have significantly contributed to the resurgence of interest in Rebetiko, both within the Greek community and among broader audiences.
